On Saturday October 7, 2006 Union will host the 24th annual Renegade Review Marching Contest. The event will be held at Union’s high school campus located just north of 71st & Garnet in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The marching competition will be conducted in Tuttle Stadium, one of the most modern football stadiums in the region with artificial turf and a large capacity spectator seating. Competing bands will be parked in the school parking lot, with paved access for all between the stadium and their parking spots. The Band Director’s and Judges’ Hospitality Suites will again be located in the Redskin Room of the Union Multipurpose Activity Center, with a bird’s eye view of the competition field. A separate lounge will also be provided for bus drivers. Building on feedback from former competitors, several event enhancements have been implemented for 2006. Improvements for 2006 include finals exhibition performance for class champions not qualifying for finals, quicker posting of recap sheets, competition video for directors, and improved registration and check-in. Again this year the large screen U-View will be utilized to display competing band information during prelims, band competition schedules, and live video of finals performances. Access to the event site is readily available from major highways. A Sam's Club Store is located adjacent to the campus should bulk supplies (water, soft drinks, etc.) be required. Many restaurants within a 1 mile radius offer a variety of dining options for visiting spectators and arrangements are again being made to have outside vendors to offer on-site dining options the day of the event. Competing bands interested in pre-ordering marching band meals should contact the event staff via the attached web link. For those bands traveling from out of the area, many lodging facilities capable of handling large groups are located within a 1 mile radius. Tulsa's largest shopping mall, Woodland Hills, is also located within a mile of the event site. With last year’s excellent entry of bands providing one of the most competitive (and entertaining) events in history, Union’s Renegade Regiment looks forward to hosting the 2006 event. Our experienced staff is prepared to make the day both convenient and fun for competing bands and their patrons by providing a safe and positive event environment. We look forward to seeing many of the excellent bands competing in past Renegade Reviews returning to this year’s event as well new entries to the event. Please do not hesitate to contact us by email (renegadereview2006@cox.net) should you have any questions regarding the event. Four your convenience, an entry form for the 2006 Renegade Review is available from a web link on this site. We wish you all good luck in the 2006 marching season and invite you to join us at the 2006 Renegade Review. George and Jean Carpenter
